Dear friends,

We are looking for partners from the Programme Countries wishing to send the EVS volunteers in Moldova.

At the moment we are glad to propose for volunteers the project "Equal chances for a decent future".

The volunteers would be of great help to our organisation in running more efficiently our projects and generally would be very opportune to the country as a whole considering the fact that Moldova is still getting acquainted to the western style of thinking, working and dealing with the social problems.



Location of the project "Equal chances for a decent future".

Center for disabled kids "Fidanjik".
The boarding school for orphans from Ceadir-lunga.
The boarding school for orphans from Congaz village.

Project-coordinating: Miras - Moldova public association.
Place: Gagauzia region, Republic of Moldova.
Project duration: 6, 9, 12 months.
Field of work: children.

Description of volunteer tasks: volunteers will work primarily with childrens from 6-17 years old. Also volunteers can work in a branch of the Centre in another community.

Mission of the project: The project aims to assist children in difficult situations and in need of special support and care, to draw attention to the socially vulnerable children orphans. It helps small boarding schools and orphanages to provide family-type of care and support

Objectives of the project are:
* To work with children with disabilities or orphans on individual programs, where the most important component is to prepare them to independent life in society.
* To provide child health services, according to the needs of children - from personal hygiene, healthcare, housing, literacy classes, psychological evaluation, to cultural activities (music festivals, music classes and handiwork) and sports.

What the volunteer can learn: the young volunteer can gain great experience by working with Moldovan young people in the field of social assistance to orphans and children with disabilities.

For example:

* Getting to know the life and the different support systems of kids with various mental and physical disabilities or severe physical disabilities.
* Getting to know the work of the different groups engaged in the work with disabled people (professional staff, young people doing their alternative civilian service or voluntary social year, other European volunteers) and exchange experiences.
* Developing their own ideas, realizing their personal interests and abilities in the daily work.
* Getting to know different ways of living by working and living together with people with different cultural backgrounds (learning, to deal with foreign people and unfamiliar situations, dealing with conflicts that might arise from different points of views and experiences).
* Getting to know social and cultural activities in Chisinau and its surrounding areas.
* Participation in internal professional development activities will provide the volunteer with specialized knowledge of the health care and nursery system.

Main Tasks for volunteers:

Volunteers will work alongside qualified members of staff as a supernumerary assistant and will be actively involved in the development of the day program of occupational therapy.

The assignment of the volunteers will be fixed by prior consultation with staff members. Volunteers could develop their own ideas for new games, activities or stories into a personal project if they so wished - creative ideas are always welcome.

The remaining of volunteers time will be spent in helping with other aspects of work at the centre - assisting with serving meals to the kids, cleaning and preparing equipment, planning activities and courses.

For example:
* Volunteers will organize leisure time for children, with teachers, so they will be assistants;
* Play with children, with his / her creativity and games he / she knows;
* Help to organize tours and excursions to lead groups of children;
* Participate in the workshops of painting and crafts;
* Take part in theatre and music groups;
* Helping children with their daily needs and responsibilities;

Like all staff members volunteers are expected to carry out some work of routine like:

* Preparing of group rooms for work;
* Cursory cleaning of group rooms at the end of work;
* Maintenance of working materials;
* Assistance during meals;

Project language: Romanian, Russian, English.
Accommodation: In host families or an apartment.

ABOUT PARTNERS

Rehabilitation Centre for disable children "Fidanjik"
was founded on September 12, 2001 with the support of the local government. Centre has the capacity to host 30 children. Within the Centre the children are working on building personal and social life with the help of local community.

Chadyr-Lunga boarding school
at the moment is hosting 220 children, 70 of them are full orphans. Here children work on building personal and social life with help of local counterparts. Many of these children were taken from the streets.

Congaz boarding school
for orphans and children with different mental and physical disabilities is a professional institution based on permanent care of children with varying degrees of developmental disorders, mental and physical disabilities: children from families below the poverty line, orphans, and orphan children. Congaz boarding school at the moment is hosting 150 children; some of them suffer of various mental and physical disabilities.
